Objektif li yo se sa ki annapre yo: kontribye nan defini ak aplike politik nasyonal syantifik; devlope ak fè pwogram rechèch syantifik ak teknolojik; gaye enfòmasyon syantifik ak teknik; asire koneksyon ant Rechèch ak Devlopman; asire sikilasyon enfòmasyon syantifik ak teknik epi patisipe nan fòmasyon syantifik chèchè yo. Aktivite CNRST yo kouvri anpil domèn enpòtan nan lavi sosyo-ekonomik Burkino Faso. Aktivite rechèch CNRST yo fèt pa 4 enstiti: Enstiti Rechèch Anviwònman ak Agrikòl (INERA), Enstiti Syans Aplike ak Rechèch Teknolojik (IRSAT), Enstiti Rechèch Syans Sante (IRSS) ak Enstiti Syans Sosyete a ( INSS).
